Memri (Middle East Media Research Institute), led by Yigal Carmon, a fomer colonel of Israeli military intelligence, is not one of my favorite sources. It is a kind of translation service, which was founded with the aim to show the darker side of the Arabs. It is far from objective and it's selection is not representative for what is going on in the Arab media. It only selects what it deems useful for its purposes. I once wrote about MEMRI and the piece can be found - in German, strangely enough - on my other blog, here. I'll almost never refer to Memri, I hate it. Howevers, here's the exception of the rule. Memri translated a satirical broadcast from the Palestinian tv, in which the recent congress of Fatah is ridiculed. Here. Funny, but also to the point, I'm afraid. Look here is what I wrote about the congress.
